Hal Finney died on the morning of Thursday 8/28, presumably from his fight with ALS. He was a programmer at Mattel and also a very early adopter of bitcoin. He was also involved in cryptography and technologies like PGP and a precursor to the TOR project. His body is going to be frozen! Several links:

Listing of the crowd sound from the Exec. It was programmed by Hal Finney, sent to us by David Rolfe.

From David: “FYI, this is Hal Finney’s crowd sound, copied from the Exec. It consists of macros, which generate numeric codes to be interpreted by the Exec sound processor. The comments explain, in a general way, what’s happening: Crowd noise, with random whistles and an air horn thrown in. See how the trill (or waver) of the whistle is effected by marching the frequency up and down a random number of times. Most of the macros set up a sound effect, which then plays out during the “PAUSE” intervals.”
